Finalità

Students attending lectures, studying at home and solving the suggested problems will acquire (or consolidate) the basic concepts of point-particles and rigid-body mechanics, of thermodynamics and electrostatics. They will be able to work out simple applications of these three disciplines.

Modalità d'esame

an intermediate and a final written test. An oral exam is compulsory only for test results below a certain threshold (details on each specific course web page)

Propedeuticità

no formal prerequisites. Elementary mathematical competence such as basic knowledge of solid geometry, vectors and trigonometry, functions and calculus are required. Practical aspects of a few of these topics are briefly recalled in the lectures.
